The History of La Unica Mexican Restaurant
La Unica Mexican Restaurant first opened up its doors as "Taqueria La Unica" in Monroe, NC. Then in June of 2002, the La Unica concept and menu was redefined to what it is today. Starting out in Concord, NC and then later expanding to Indian Trail, Huntersville, Harrisburg and now Uptown Charlotte.
When the first location opened up its doors in 2002, the family had one goal in mind, to provide an authentic, enjoyable dining experience to the community. Through the years, the restaurants have remained a family business that has been able to grow with the help of our managers, employees and the love and support of our customers. Everyone who has been apart of the La Unica team and our customers have become part of the familia.

We are glad to continue to serve a unique and authentic food for over 20 years in the Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas. We believe that honesty, dedication, and experience have helped us become masters in service and quality.

La Unica aims to capture the essence of Mexican cuisine. With its origins in Durango, Mexico, La Unica wants to bring Mexican culture to the forefront of our customer’s experience. In order to help achieve our goal, we bring our customers the freshest ingredients and prepare them in a traditional manner. We desire for each customer to feel as if they are sitting on the streets of Mexico enjoying an authentic meal with a friendly team catering to their needs whenever they visit any of our locations.
